We Install Garage Doors

When choosing a company to provide garage door installation services it’s always in your best interest if you do a little investigation into, not only their previous work for other customers but also if they meet certain minimum requirements. Hiring an individual or company to provide service work inside your home is inherently risky, but if you ensure that they are insured, have specific standards as to background screening of their employees, and are properly trained in their area of expertise, you stand a much better chance at getting a positive outcome.

When you hire G & G Garage Doors to install new garage doors you can rest assured that we check all the boxes. Not to toot our own horn, but we have more than 800 reviews on Google alone and maintain a 4.9 Star aggregate rating. We’re insured and bonded for your safety and our employees are covered through workman’s compensation. What this means to you, is that if an accident were to occur on your property during the course of providing services our insurance would cover not only damage to your property but also ensure you incur zero liability if one of our workers were to become injured. And, while we pride ourselves on our workmanship and attention to every detail, not every garage door installation company in the Greater Los Angeles area operates in the same manner. So, please do your homework prior to inviting any company or individual into your home. If you’d like a free in-home garage door installation consultation, give us a call.

Install Garage Doors To Improve Curb Appeal

Did you know that new garage doors can instantly improve the curb appeal, and therefore the perceived value of your home? It’s true because your home’s facade is what is seen first and, since first impressions matter you might want to take an objective look at your home. Your garage door makes up, on average, almost 40% of the front of your home, so it’s a good idea to replace your existing garage doors if you’re thinking about putting your home on the market. But, don’t just take our word for it. In a recent article in Remodeling Magazine, they state that replacing your garage door gives you a 93.8% Return on Investment (ROI) and that when you spend an average of $3,907.00 to replace your garage door, it can increase the total resale price of you home by $3,663.00. That’s a higher return than a minor kitchen remodel at only 72.2% ROI.

Of course, there are other reasons you may want to replace your garage door. Damaged garage doors that don’t operate properly or ones that are loud and obnoxious when in use should be replaced as soon as possible. Besides the obvious disrepair, there are security issues to consider if your garage doors don’t operate as they should. If you’re thinking about replacing your garage doors or if you would like a little more information on the process and the new features available in today’s garage doors contact us for a free consultation.

Should I replace my garage Doors?

If you’re not interested in improving the curb appeal of your home, but you’ve been thinking about replacing your garage door because it’s damaged, you understand that it’s best to have it replaced sooner rather than later. If regular garage door maintenance has not been a priority, the longer you wait to replace a worn-out garage door, the greater the likelihood that it will fail one day. Untreated minor garage door repair issues can eventually lead to significant damage over time. Garage doors with gaps can also allow pests such as wasps, ants, and even snakes into your home. Faulty garage doors can cost you more in terms of energy use, and an easily compromised garage door can be seen as an open invitation to home invaders or burglars.

With the fast pace of our busy lives, traveling to and from work, the grocery store, school events, and all the rest of it, your garage door is opened and closed an average of 1500 times per year. With appropriate attention and regular maintenance, the average age of a garage door is about 20 years. Of course, your mileage will vary depending on the door’s use. But, over time, you’ll start to notice chipped paint on the panels, creeks, sounds that are unusual, and other worn-down garage door components. If you have a basketball hoop in the same proximity as your garage door, there’s a good chance you have multiple dents from a wayward toss or two. And, if you have new drivers in your home, there’s always the possibility of someone accidentally backing into your garage door.

If your garage door has just minimal damage, but it is fairly old, say between 10 and 15 years, you may want to consider replacing it with a new, more modern look. Besides the benefit of having a door that’s more aesthetically pleasing, there are many other benefits of replacing your garage door. Updated and more sophisticated garage door openers, for one. If your garage door opener doesn’t come with a battery backup in the event of a power outage, the least you should consider is a new garage door opener.

While garage door replacement may sound expensive, if you’re wanting to sell your home sooner rather than later, as mentioned, the ROI on replacing your garage door is more than 90%. But, with an improvement in the curb appeal, the ROI could be much higher depending on the location. Contact G & G Garage Doors for all your garage door replacement questions.

Benefits of a New Garage Door

    Increased Security

One of the key benefits of having a new garage door installed is the fact that newer garage doors and garage door openers provide you and your family with much better security than older garage door systems. Newer doors are sturdier and the new openers have features that allow you to open your garage remotely.

    Improved Curb Appeal

A new garage door can instantly improve the curb appeal and therefore the value of your home. That is if you choose a garage door that serves to compliment the existing facade of your home. With the many choices of hardware, window design, and various styles available, you can’t go wrong with a new garage door.

    Decreased Maintenance

If you want to decrease the frequency at which you have your garage door system serviced or repaired installing a new garage door is just what you’re looking for. An old garage door requires more maintenance while a new garage door can decrease your annual outlay of cash for painting, maintenance, and repairs.

    Variety of Styles

Even if your garage door hasn’t fallen into disrepair you may still want to investigate the various garage door styles, types, and material that are available in today’s garage doors. Carriage doors, opaque glass, steel, and a lot more garage door add ons make it worth your while to at least take a look at what’s out there.

How much is garage door installation?

When you’ve decided that it’s time to replace your garage door then you must determine what the overall project is going to cost in terms of money and time. One thing that many homeowners don’t consider when considering taking on a DIY garage door install is how long their garage will be completely open to the elements and passersby. Well in our case, we usually complete the job within a single day. Or, if it’s a big job, we’ll at least have some sort of temporary closure to ensure that your garage is not overrun by unwanted visitors. But the cost of removing the old garage door is something that should be taken into consideration. The average cost for removal of the old garage door including all hardware and tracks and replacement with a new garage door is somewhere between $750 and $2000, depending on the level of difficulty and any unforeseen issues.

How do you adjust a garage door?

When we install your garage doors for the first time we ensure that they are balanced and that your garage door springs are perfectly torqued to the correct specifications so that your garage door will not come out of alignment during operation. However, over time various garage door components will begin to wear out and can negatively impact other parts of your door’s operation. When this wear begins to occur, which may become apparent from hearing unusual sounds or by witnessing strange jerky movements when your garage door is moving up and down, you’ll want to give us a call immediately. We’ll come out and make all necessary adjustments so that your garage door will last for as long as possible.

How to program a garage door opener?

If your garage door opener isn’t working it might be that you simply need to program your garage door opener. Reprogramming your garage door opener with your remote does take a little work on your part. You’ll need to use a ladder to access the opener that’s mounted to the ceiling. Remove the cover where the light bulb is and search for the “learn” button. When you’ve located the “learn” button, press it, and once you see a light come on on the opener, press and hold the main button on your remote. This should sync your opener with your remote. If you have a keypad on the outside of your garage you can program it using the same “learn” button. But you’ll want to get someone else to help you do this and you’ll have 30 seconds to enter the new code into your keypad, and if your keypad is quite a distance from your opener you might not have sufficient time to get this done if you’re doing it by yourself. If you have any questions about having a new garage door installed or you simply need help programming your garage door opener, give us a call.
